Macarena Pesutic
Macarena Pesutic Hecker was born in Concepción, Chile. She studied violin with Americo Giusti, Jaime de La Jara and Alberto Dourthé at the Facultad de Artes de la Universidad de Chile and with Patricio Cobos at the Columbus University (USA). She finished her viola studies with Nobuko Imai (bachelor's and master's degree, 2001/2003) in the Hochschule für Musik Detmold and with Tatjana Masurenko (Konzertexamen, 2003) in the Hochscule für Musik und Theater Leipzig. She also holds a master's degree from the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (Madrid, España) in Investigación y Creación Musical (2008).
She has also taken master classes with Samuel Sanders, Aaron Rosand, Thomas Riebl, Roberto Díaz, Shmuel Ashkenasi, Eberhardt feltz and members of the Julliard Quartet and the Vermeer Quartet.
Her career has taken her into important musical festivals including the Academie International d'eté de Nice (France), International Musicians Seminar (UK), Kneisel Hall Chamber Music Festival (USA), Apple Hill Chamber Music Festival (USA), Holland Music Sessions (Holland), Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival (Finland) and the Thy Chamber Music Festival (Denmark).
Macarena won second prize at the MTNA Competition (1994, USA) and first prize at the RWE Competition in Leipzig (2001, Alemania).
As a soloist, she has performed Bartók's viola Concerto with the Orquesta Sinfónica de Concepción (Chile) and Mozart´s Sinfonia Concertante for violin and viola with the Symphonie Orchester Warendorf (Alemania), among others.
Since 2004 she is a member of the Orquesta Sinfónica de Tenerife and since 2005 she teaches viola at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Canarias, sede Tenerife. As a chamber musician, Macarena performs regularly with different ensembles in Spain, Chile and Germany.
