The Primer Festival de Ópera de Lanzarote and the Concejalia de Cultura del Ayto de Teguise present their first Gala de Zarzuela, a journey through the most popular melodies of the Spanish lyrical genre par excellence. The most emblematic works of the repertoire such as La Revoltosa by Chapí, El dúo de la Africana by Fernández Caballero, El Barberillo de Lavapiés by Barbieri or Luisa Fernanda by Moreno-Torroba will fill the convent of Santo Domingo with perfectly recognisable and enjoyable harmonies and songs. The young soprano from Gran Canaria, Abenauara Grafiña, with her beautifully timbre voice and important appearances at the Teatro Pérez Galdós, Teatro Arriaga in Bilbao and Teatro Jovellanos in Gijón. The tenor Alejandro del Cerro from Santander has started one of the most interesting careers among the young Spanish tenors, with regular appearances at the Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid, Teatro Campoamor in Oviedo, Teatro Real in Madrid and the Gran Teatro del Liceu in Barcelona. Gerardo Bullón, from Madrid, has become one of the most important baritone voices on the lyric market in his own right, and is also a specialist when it comes to zarzuela. It is common to see him on the bill of Spanish opera seasons, such as at the Teatro Real in Madrid, Gran Teatro Liceu in Barcelona, Teatro Campoamor in Oviedo or Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid. They will be accompanied on the piano by Juan Francisco Parra, a musician from Gran Canaria, one of the most sought-after repertoire pianists in the country, accompanying the great figures of world opera all over the world.
