JOSEP SANCHO SANCHO
‘The works could hardly have been interpreted with greater expressiveness and style’. This is how the Financial Times of London describes Josep Sancho, winner of the International K. Trained in Barcelona with Joan Enric Lluna and at the Royal Academy of Music in London, he has won numerous awards at the JJ.MM de Espana, Palau de la Música de Barcelona, the Geoffrey Hawkes Clarinet Prize, the John Ireland Chamber Music Competition and the BBC Young Artists Forum in London.
He has collaborated with the Orchestre des Jeunes de la Mediterranée, the Interregionales Simphonieorchester, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchester, Orquesta Sinfónica del Liceo, Orquestra del Teatre Lliure and the European Union Chamber Orchestra. In the field of chamber music he has collaborated with members of the Ensemble Intercontemporaine, the Osiris Trio from Holland, the string quartets Brodsky, David, Casals and Con Tempo, the Ensemble Barcelona 216 and the Schubert Octet.
Particularly interested in the dissemination of contemporary music, he has founded the Trio Guinjoan and the orchestra Cambra XX. He is a frequent contributor to 20th century music festivals, most notably his participation in the Donatoni Festival in London and the Alicante Contemporary Music Festival.

He studied at the Conservatori del Liceu in Barcelona (Honorary Prize) and at the Franz Liszt Academy in Budapest. First Prize in the XI edition of the International Piano Competition ‘Xavier Montsalvatge’. She received a scholarship with the ‘Oms i de Prat’ Prize and also by the Hungarian Government to extend her studies in Hungary.
Her presence as a soloist has been requested by numerous festivals such as: ‘Festival de Música y Danza de Granada’, ‘Quincena Musical de San Sebastián’, ‘Matinées du piano’ of Orleans, Festival Internacional de Música de Santander, Auditori de Barcelona, Festival de Perelada, Ljubljana… and in many festivals specialised in contemporary music.
For many years he has received advice from the maestro Jean-Pierre Dupuy. He has performed as a member of the Duo Kroma, Trio Guinjoan, Diabolus in Musica, piano duo with Jean-Pierre Dupuy, among many others.
He has recorded for Radio France, Radio Slovenija, RNE, TV Alhambra, Catalunya Música… with numerous premieres of Spanish composers.
