The Trio Bernaola was founded at the Royal Academy of Music/London with the aim of performing contemporary music with special emphasis on music composed in the Basque Country.
Carmelo Bernaola, who lends his name to the ensemble, is himself a Basque composer who fully endorsed the group. Over the years the group has toured extensively in Europe, the UK and South America and has recorded repertoire of numerous contemporary Basque composers. It’s touring programmes now incorporate classical repertoire alongside the contemporary works.
